Welcome to our brand-new store, where you can find all things Japanese. We have a number of premium-quality Japanese products (and services - coming soon!). Our products are sourced and made in Japan. We are based in Melbourne, VIC, Australia. 

A little bit about us:

Hiroki Ishikawa started Japanable in 2020, during the peak of the Pandemic. He was born in a fisherman's town in Japan. Since he was little, he is trained to use japanase-made knives to prepare a lot of seafood. His grandfather, who was an experience fisherman, taught him a lot about knives and also how to sharpen and care of the knives. Hence, he values high-quality Japanese-made knives and sharpening stones. Then, in 2006, Hiroki started to work in one of the most well-known steel companies in Japan and in the world i.e. Nippon Steel. From there, he gained even more experience in understanding steel and metallurgy. Thus, these combined experience had taught him a lot and has made him even more passionate towards Japanese-knives. In 2013, Hiroki finally decided to move to Australia. After being in Australia for quite a while, he is passionate to introduce premium-quality Japanese knives to the Australian market. This has motivated him to start this business in Australia.
